What is it?
H Drives are the legacy personal network drives. These have been phased out and are replaced with OneDrive, Microsoft's personal cloud storage solution.
When to use?
If you still have an H Drive, you should migrate the files to OneDrive. The server hosting those files is at the end of it's life and will be retired. Additionally, OneDrive allows you to access your files from any location.
What to do?
There are a few ways to migrate your H Drive. For most cases, the simplest method will work: Copy and Paste your files from the H Drive to OneDrive.
1. Open File Explorer and navigate to your H Drive.
2. Open a second File Explorer and open your OneDrive.
3. Select all files in your H Drive. You can use CTRL+A to select all files, or click and drag.
4. Copy the files. You can either use the CTRL+C command or right click and select Copy.
5. In your OneDrive, navigate to the location you'd like to place the files. This can be the main folder of OneDrive, or you can create a folder "H Drive Files"
6. Paste the files. You can either use CTRL+V or right click and select Paste.
7. Let IT know that you have migrated your H Drive files. IT will un-map the H Drive folder from your file explorer.
8. Let IT know within 30 days if there are any issues or missing files.
9. Enjoy accessing your files securely from any device using OneDrive!
